Heliatek completes second phase of organic Solar PV project in Singapore

Singapore being one of the ever growing cities in Asia where HeliaFilm – a green based technology has installed BIOPV (Building Integrated Organic Photovoltaic) Solar PV project exclusively for open space and rooftops. The main benefit of organic solar film is electrical power generated from existing buildings by easily fixing these solar films on various surfaces receiving sun shine. The cost can be reduced on the amount spent on building materials and labor compared to traditional solar panels.

The pilot installations at Singapore includes Seletar Aerospace walkway and JTC’s Cleantech Park I and II (On an area of about 200 m2). The total Solar PV energy production planned out of these installations is 10kwp. The opaque organic solar film was installed on the west façade of the Cleantech I building on steel panels with 56 films of 2-meter-length and 45 films of 3.25-meter-length laminated into 15 glass elements. On the Cleantech II building, 87 HeliaFilm solar films were mounted directly on glass elements. In the third phase of this project, transparent films will be added to the installation.

Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) continuously checked and gathered information to prove the unique features of HeliaFilm. By checking the stability of performance at higher temperatures and non-optimal orientations proved itself different from conventional solar panels. The pilot-project symbolizes the green tech for urban energy production can be sustainable.

Thibaud Le Séguillon, CEO of Heliatek says that the unique technology is advantageous for the distribution of solar energy in tropical climates in regions of Singapore to make it a green city. The Pilot project is going to expand industrially worldwide in the coming days for which the Singapore project is an important milestone. Heliatek in the field of Organic Electronics Energy holds a record of 13.2 % by its material developments in manufacturing volumes has expanded intensely. It began to commercialize large areas OPV solar film. Its role is to supply custom designed HeliaFilm to industrial partners such as building and construction materials, automotive and light architectural structures.
