ISRO: The inspiration fountain for Indian engineers

There is hardly anyone who don’t know the success of India's Mars Orbiter Spacecraft by ISRO. Engineers in India see ISRO as an immense source of inspiration. The precision, application of science, team work, resource management and will to convert failure into success need to be made into movie and to be screened on national channel.

The ISRO work culture is something which can be emulated all around India. ISRO's founders Vikram Sarabhai and Satish Dhawan need to be thanked for building the foundation for a such a work culture. On the importance of space technology for India, Vikram Sarabhai made below comments at that time of founding ISRO:

"There are some who question the relevance of space activities in a developing nation. To us, there is no ambiguity of purpose. We do not have the fantasy of competing with the economically advanced nations in the exploration of the moon or the planets or manned space-flight."

"But we are convinced that if we are to play a meaningful role nationally, and in the community of nations, we must be second to none in the application of advanced technologies to the real problems of man and society."

There are bollywood movies on various subjects but its worth making a movie on some of our scientist who have built ISRO.

Though MoM is a interplanet mission, there is immense benefit of that technology which can be applied to the benefit of ordinary citizen. Robotics and remote management going to play huge role in agriculture in the coming years. The MoM is a kind of sophisticated robot. Imagine the farmer has to buy a solar-powered robot driverless tiller/tractor which can be even operated from smart phone, if India can develop such a product at 5x times lesser cost than supplier outside India, there is a huge benefit. There are many examples where technology developed for space find use in everyday life improvement. In this world of IP patents, India need lot of IP for future products. Indian companies can license IPs from ISRO at lower price compared to buying from abroad.

Finally ISRO has to help other Indian private companies with the technologies it has built over years to build Make In India products.
