Mobile phone chipmaker Mediatek expands in India

Taiwan based Mobile phone chipmaker Mediatek which already has office in Noida, India opened VLSI and embedded software design center in Bangalore. The new research center to work on mobile communications, wireless connectivity & home entertainment segments.

MediaTek set aside a investment of over USD 200 million for India during the course of the next few years. Company aim to hire 100 VLSI design engineers, and expected grow the engineers count over 500 in number in coming years. The new facility is at Tech Park, along the Outer Ring Road in Bangalore.

Grant Kuo, Managing Director, MediaTek India, said "with the launch of Bengaluru center, we are looking to expand into our other set of technology segments in India, besides mobile communications."

To update you on other latest news on MediaTek, MediaTek has recently launched MT6795, the 64-bit True Octa-core LTE smartphone System on Chip (SoC) with 2K display support.

MediaTek partnering with Japan Display for display on mobile devices with 120 Hz refresh rate. The 120Hz refresh ensures smother scrolling and zero motion blur relative to a common 60Hz display. Mediatek achieves this through response time enhancement technology

Mediatek's multicore smart phone SoCs are used in huge number of low cost affordable smart phones in India. MediaTek said it is steadily growing in the Indian market during the last decade.
