Cypress Licenses 55-Nanometer NVM IP to UMC

Date: 14/07/2014
Taiwan-based semiconductor foundry service provider United microelectronics Corporation (UMC) has licensed Cypress semiconductor's SONOS (Silicon Oxide Nitride Oxide Silicon) embedded Flash memory intellectual property (IP) supporting 55-nm node.

Cypress says its nonvolatile memory (NVM) 55-nm SONOS need 3 to 4 additional masks compared to the 11-12 additional masks generally needed for other embedded Flash technologies. On the reliability front SONOS IP can retain the data for 10 years and supports 100,000 program/erase endurance cycles, and robust resistance to soft errors.
