Octasic’s high-density VoIP solutions selected by Digium for new line of media gateways

Octasic Inc has announced that its Vocallo MGW to be used by Digium, the Asterisk Company. Digium is to develop their G100 and G200 lines of IP media gateways using these VoIP solutions.

Digium's VoIP gateways are industrial-grade appliances designed to bridge the gap between TDM (T1/E1/PRI) and IP networks. The gateways are built on a combination of the Asterisk open source communications engine and a state-of-the-art embedded platform.

"Octasic’s devices have become the de facto standard in the Asterisk community for voice compression and Voice Quality Enhancement (VQE)," said David Deaton, VP Engineering at Digium. "Together, we're delivering high density, power efficient, and cost effective solutions to our SMB customers. Octasic’s flexible solutions allow us to build one hardware platform that can support a range of channel densities."

Octasic's Vocallo MGW is a scalable solution that leverages the DSP platform for voice and video over IP applications. It provides a complete hardware and software solution for media gateways. Its software package includes voice processing with support for packet-based wideband audio and video processing for real-time communications.

"We are delighted to extend our relationship with Digium into their gateway line of products," said Fabio Gambacorta, VP sales and business development at Octasic. "These industrial grade appliances leverage our field-hardened VoIP solutions to simplify SIP gateway deployments."
