Renesas Mobile Corporation has inaugurated its research and development (R&D) centre in Bangalore, India. Renesas mobile designs VLSI chips mainly based on ARM processor cores for growing market of 2G, 3G and 4G modem technologies.
The executive team present during the inauguration includes of Heikki Tenhunen, Senior Vice President, Jean-Marie Rolland, Chief Technical Officer and Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing, and Shinichi Yoshioka, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Renesas Mobile India is a member of the Software Technology Parks of India, and currently has about 230 employees. Renesas Mobile India expects to invest approximately USD 115 million within five years, which includes personnel and capital costs.
Renesas has recently expanded its sales offices in India. Renesas is expanding in India both to tap development resources as well as emerging semiconductor market of India.
Renesas Mobile started operations on December 1, 2010 with the completion of Renesas Electronics acquisition of the Wireless Modem group of Nokia Corporation.
