Vestel Selects Broadcom's SoC for its
latest HDTVs
Vestel has selected Broadcom system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions
for a new line of DVB-T/S-based high definition televisions
(HDTVs). This selection includes Broadcom's BCM3556 digital
TV (DTV) SoC solution, the BCM4505 DVB-S2 advanced modulation
satellite receiver SoC, and BCM4323x Intensi-fi XLR 802.11n
Wi-Fi media devices.
"As a leading provider of televisions in Europe, we
are focused on meeting consumer demand for TVs with high
performance, superior picture quality and advanced features.
We look forward to working with Broadcom to meet this demand
and deliver superior televisions to Europe."said Murat
Sarpel (M.Sc.EEE), General Manager, R&D, Vestel Group
of Companies
"Digital TV in Europe is forecast to grow rapidly in
2010 and 2011, as analog switch-off programs complete in
countries most dependent on broadcast reception. At the
same time, free to air HD broadcasts are launching in 11
European countries this year, with rapid expansion of coverage
in 2011. There was significant growth in 2009 with consumers
encouraged by economic recovery in Eastern Europe and analog
switch-off projects in Spain, Italy, France and the UK.
There are plenty of new features underpinned by rapidly
expanding HD services. DisplaySearch estimates that 57 million
TVs will be sold in Europe in 2010, up 18 percent on 2009,
with almost 61 million expected to ship in 2011."said
Paul Gray, Director TV Electronics Research, DisplaySearch
"We are committed to developing highly integrated
and advanced TV technology that supports worldwide compatibility
and standards, and the new line of Vestel TVs will deliver
high-quality home entertainment to consumers."said
Dan Marotta, Executive Vice President & General Manager,
Broadcom's Broadband Communications Group
