Internet audio growth to drive demand
for Class D and class G/H amplifier ICs
Due to world going to listen to more digital music on mobile
media players such as phones and mp3/mp4 players, IMS research
says there is going to be more demand for digital audio
ICs such as Class D and class G/H amplifiers.
Unit volumes of Class D amplifiers are projected by IMS
Research to grow at a CAGR of 35.9% by the end of 2014.
The class G or class H amplifier, expected to have a CAGR
of almost 64% in unit volumes in the portable space through
the end of 2014.
Class D and class H amplifiers are efficiency driven but
offer enough signal fidelity to please the ears of average
music listener. IC makers who can offer highly efficient
amplifiers and also better fidelity in tiny packages will
be the choice of audio designers. It can be D, H, J, K or
whatever.
