Lineage Power licenses DPT patents from Power-One

Lineage Power has announced that they entered into a Field of Use agreement for Digital Power Technology (DPT) patents from Power-One.

The agreement expands the market for Power-One's DPT and Lineage Power's line of DC-DC point-of-load (POL) converters with the new digital DLynx Series. Lineage Power will leverage the new license agreement in the digital DLynx family of 3A to 40A POLs compliant with the Power Management Bus (PMBus) communications protocol.

Power-One's DPT, through the use of digital circuitry that reacts to the power needs of the system, reduces the number of analog board-mounted controllers, and creates a small footprint. The technology license from Power-One is a key ingredient to Lineage Power's end-to-end Total Efficiency architecture that optimizes energy efficiency, low cooling costs with reliable operation. Digital power provides access to critical load information including current and voltage, enabling the system to monitor the power consumption at the high possible resolution at the processor or load.

"We are excited to partner with Lineage Power, a leader in DC/DC power modules, as we work together to grow the rapidly expanding digital power management market," commented Alex Levran, Chief Technology Officer for Power-One. "With the expanding number of leading power companies partnering with Power-One, we will continue to grow the market by providing energy efficient technologies with increased functionality for our customers. This agreement enables us to initiate further technological collaboration between both companies."

"The digital power licensing agreement with Power-One enables Lineage Power to extend our decade of expertise with digital DC power control technology for telecom energy systems to the digital board-mounted power industry," explained Niklas Fallgren, vice president and general manager of Lineage Power's Embedded OEM division. "Our focus is to provide customers and partners with a wide choice of innovative, multi-sourced digital bus converters and digital POLs."
