Novatel selects Anadigics power amplifiers to drive its wireless broadband USB modems

To drive its new Ovation MC996D and MC998D wireless broadband USB modems, Novatel has selected Anadigics AWT6222 and AWT6224 dual-band PAs for WCDMA, HSPA and HSPA+ operation, and the AWE6159 quad-band PA for EDGE mode operation. These two new modems delivers 5.76 Mbps of upload speeds and 21.6 Mbps of download speeds or high on HSPA+ networks, enabling high-quality user experiences with video, multimedia, gaming and other data-intensive mobile applications.

The Ovation MC996D operates in 3G modes in the 2100MHz and 900MHz UMTS bands widely used in Europe and also include quad-band EDGE for connectivity on GSM/EDGE networks. The Ovation MC998D wireless broadband USB modem operates in 3G modes in the 2100MHz, 1900MHz and 850MHz UMTS bands used in North America and Japan, and also includes quad-band EDGE connectivity.

High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) wireless broadband technology, offers high capacity for data throughput compared to current 3G networks.

Anadigics PAs are manufactured using Anadigics' InGaP-Plus technology for reliability, temperature stability and ruggedness, using materials consistent with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive.

"We are proud to play a part in the continuing development of the mobile broadband ecosystem by supporting Novatel Wireless' development of industry-leading devices like these new Ovation wireless broadband USB modems," said Mike Canonico, vice president of Worldwide Sales for ANADIGICS. "Our commitment to innovation in RF solutions over 25 years has enabled ANADIGICS to become a valued partner, providing RF solutions and application support for mobile devices that enable early deployments of advanced wireless technologies like HSPA+ and LTE which are driving growth in wireless data applications worldwide."
