WCDMA power amplifier from Anadigics powers Samsung's 3G Handsets

Anadigics has announced that it's AWT6241 WCDMA power amplifier (PA) is inside Samsung's new 3G TD-SCDMA handset developed for use on China Mobile's network.

Anadigics says, Samsung's S5630C handset, which includes a touchscreen handwriting feature for Chinese character input, leverages ANADIGICS' HELP3 technology to deliver more talk times and high 3G functionality.

The AWT6241 is based on InGaP HBT MMIC technology to provide temperature stability, and ruggedness. There are two operating modes for optimum efficiency at high and medium/low power output levels with a single mode input. A shutdown mode with low leakage current increases handset talk and standby-time.

The key features of the AWT6241 power amplifier are,

WCDMA/HSPA power amplifier for IMT/UMTS-Band across the 1920-1980 MHz frequency
27.5 dBm output power
Efficiency of 42% at +28.5 dBm
Efficiency of 26% at +17 dBm
Low quiescent current of 8 mA
