Storage and networking semiconductor specialist LSI increased its India's R&D strength

Storage and networking semiconductor device specialist LSI has expanded its R&D center in Pune, India to house more VLSI engineers. The new facility is double the capacity compared to its previous facility in Pune. It will allow LSI to hire more VLSI chip designers. The additional engineering capacity will broaden the scope of development in the areas of network security, enterprise networking and data storage.

With companies such as LSI expanding early in year 2010, it indicates job opportunities in India for electronics engineers with VLSI and related skills will improve in year 2010 compared to a downsizing times in 2009.

"India is a major component of our long-term strategic plan," said Abhi Talwalkar, LSI president and chief executive officer. "The world-class R&D capabilities we are deploying in India will allow us to deliver even more innovative, industry-leading products and services to meet our customers' and partners' most pressing needs."

LSI India with total number of employees of 860 in its offices in Bangalore and Pune, is company's largest regional presence outside of the United States.

India is no more a destination for cost cutting; India offers high value additions in developing cutting edge semiconductor chips and solutions. Increased operations in this part of the world also help to address the fast emerging India semiconductor market.
