D2Audio WIDESound x 4 enhancement tech from Intersil

Intersil has introduced the new D2Audio WIDESound x 4-enhancement technology that offers simulated home theatre experience using an array of front-mounted speakers, which is suitable for Flat Panel TVs and other space-constrained products.

D2Audio SoundSuite is advanced audio signal processing firmware that runs on D2Audio Digital Audio Engine IC platforms and subassemblies that drive high-quality sound in products such as digital televisions, premium digital audio docking stations and stereo products.

WIDESound x 4 is a multi-channel soundbar simulated "virtualization" effect that enhances audio capabilities in flat panel TVs or other applications where full sized speakers are impractical. WIDESound x 4 utilizes the full power of a true digital signal processing (DSP) system with enhanced control of the simulated loudspeaker system. Variations of the WIDESound x 4 technology allow for soundbar implementations of two, four or six loudspeaker systems for a completely scalable architecture.

WIDESound x 4 offers access to key control parameters to customize and optimize the simulated home theatre effect. Implementation of 2-channel, 4-channel and 6-channel soundbars is possible through simple control of the available parameters in the audio processing block.
