LSI and Accton jointly made available of a new, low-cost hardware and software platform that delivers IPTV and rich media applications over broadband access networks.

Based on LSI Advanced PayloadPlus multicore communications processors (APP) and broadband access software, Accton's remote DSLAM solution enables providers to deploy triple-play services including voice, data and IPTV, along with online gaming and business applications.

"Only 3% of the world's households will have IPTV in 2013," said Elroy Jopling, research director, Gartner, Inc. [1] "Worldwide subscriptions to Internet Protocol television services will triple from 19 million in 2008 to more than 60 million in 2013, a compound annual growth rate of 25%."

The current collaborative effort provides VDSL2 (Very High Speed Digital Subscriber Line 2) and PON (Passive Optical Network) connectivity in remote DSLAM applications.

"LSI is a recognized leader in the development of high-performance, multicore communications processors for networking infrastructure applications," said Samuel Chang, executive vice president, Accton. "The combination of Accton systems integration expertise and LSI multicore technology has enabled a new generation of cost-effective, highly scalable, feature-rich platforms that support voice, data and IPTV that we're now shipping in production volumes."
