Broadcom acquired
digital TV business from AMD
A definitive agreement has signed by Broadcom and Advanced
Micro Devices (AMD) allowing Broadcom to acquire digital
TV business of AMD. More than 530 members of AMD's DTV business
will join Broadcom.
The DTV product line from AMD includes Xilleon integrated
DTV processors and complete turnkey reference designs, NXT
receiver ICs, Theate 300 DTV processor, and a line of panel
processors that perform advanced motion compensation, frame
rate conversion and scaling.
With this sell-off, AMD plans to focus and invest more
into profit making businesses of microprocessors and graphic
processors.
The value of the deal is $192.8 million.
