Samsung India sign MOU with Govt. of Tamil Nadu to build factory in Chennai.

Samsung and Govt. of Tamil Nadu signed Memorandum of Understanding to start manufacturing facility in Sriperumbdur, Chennai. Samsung plans to invest up to $100 million over a five year time from next year onwards.

In recent times, Chennai is becoming top destination for electronics manufacturing. This city is getting all the attention and support both from industry and Government. The natural advantage of Chennai is it's seaport; very important in managing international shipments and logistics for a manufacturing facility.
In phase 1, this facility will churn out 1 million to 1.5 million shipment units of all the consumer electronics and home appliances you see in a typical home appliance shop. In phase 2 production facility will be expanded for increased production capability.
As the years pass, Samsung has plans to make this unit a global manufacturing hub. The only other Indian manufacturing facility of Samsung is in Noida, UP, which also houses R& D unit.
