TranSwitch Corporation to acquire Centillium Communications

Transwitch Corporation has signed definitive agreement to acquire Centillium Communications. By acquiring Centillium Communications, Transwitch got good hold of the growing market of Fiber to the home (FTTH) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) solutions.
Centillium's Mustang chip has earned good recognition in the IP communications market. Dr Santanu Das CEO of transwitch has said, "Centillium has a large number of important customers including Alcatel-Lucent, OKI, Samsung, ZTE and Tellabs. Their products have won significant industry recognition".

This example of telecom device industry consolidation indicates, the blurred difference between end-equipment market and carrier-equipment market is becoming further blurred, and it's soon going to be a single market.
