    RFID business of Intel is acquired by Impinj Inc

Impinj, Inc. a vendor of UHF gen2 RFID solutions has acquired Intel's RFID operation. The star product from the RFID division of Intel is R1000 RF ID reader chip and will now be sold under Impinj brand. Through this acquisition, Impinj strengthens its position in the RFID market further.

William T. Colleran, president and CEO of Impinj said, "This acquisition is a huge step for Impinj, accelerating our drive to deliver the highest performance, most cost effective RFID products available from any vendor anywhere".
