Debiotech and ST micro successfully develop
a prototype of automatic insulin pump
Diabetic patients are gifted with new
technology where an insulin pump works very closely to a pancreas.
Debiotech, a medical device company in partnership with leading
semiconductor device manufacturer ST Microelectronics has
successfully tested highly miniaturized insulin pump. Debiotech
has very effectively used ST Micros Micro Electro Mechanical
System (MEMS) technology in building silicon based microfluidic
devices.
The size of the nanopump is so small it can be worn as a small
patch on the skin. The cost of the device is priced low compared
to other insulin pumps in the market.
This device has undergone all the key tests and Debiotech
has started volume manufacturing.
This technology will significantly automate the treatment
of various diseases by controlled delivary of any drug to
the patient body.
