Computation capability enhanced Matlab and Simulink support multi-core systems

Mathworks has tailored its 2009 release version of its popular engineering /science design software packages Matlab and Simulink called R2009b to work more efficiently with multi-core systems. With plentiful availability of dual-core and quad-core systems, signal processing expert's favorite computational software packages can now churn out the complex multimedia data at better speeds. Also the tools are updated to handle larger size of data. This is more relevant due to growth in high quality images in every area of science and engineering. Gone are the days of text processing. Now the software packages such as these have to boast improved image processing capabilities otherwise called multimedia signal processing abilities.

The R2009b versions of MATLAB provide ability to perform Fast Fourier Transforms (FFTs) on data sets larger than 2 GB. Image Processing Toolbox inside MATLAB can handle large TIFF images and also does parallel computing for fast results.

The other highlights of new versions include:

Mapping Toolbox can search and retrieval of geographic data sets from Web Map Service (WMS) servers (for example, NASA JPL OnEarth and Microsoft TerraServer).

With the availability of MATLAB Central File Exchange users can search large number of user-contributed files directly from the MATLAB environment.

Embedded system engineers with this new version can manage better the reuse of designed models with the availability of easy switching between different model configurations.

Automated tuning and turnkey PID controller blocks are available in Simulink for faster design and verification of these frequently used controllers.
Improved efficiency in code generation for signal processing applications, with reduced data copies and optimized matrix operations.
Availability of Model Advisor Configuration Editor to manage and deploy a consistent set of checks and rules for modeling standards across an organization.
New API enables Embedded MATLAB to be used as a property specification language.

Mathworks offers training in Matlab and Simulink in all the metro cities in India.
