New software framework for embedded platforms from Eurotech

Eurotech has announced the launch of Everyware Software Framework (ESF) on Intel Atom-based embedded platforms, including the Catalyst Module XL, Catalyst EC, ISIS, Proteus, and DuraCOR 1200/1400.The ESF offers open source developer tooling based on the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and Java Micro Edition Virtual Machine. And the suggested applications are transportation, medical, communications, defense, security, and industrial industries.

Eurotech systems loaded with ESF give OEMs a flexible and portable Java-based development environment that makes application creation quick and easy.

"Eurotech has always understood that quick time-to-market is as critical as power consumption and performance in the embedded space. With ESF on Intel Atom solutions, we bring these traits to the next level," explains Arlen Nipper, President and CTO of Eurotech Inc. "ESF delivers everything from the hardware to the operating system to middleware components via Java bundles. OEMs simply have to develop their end applications on top of these bundles. Furthermore, because ESF is based on Java, our products can be easily ported across operating systems and Eurotech platforms, freeing developers from wasted time re-writing code."
