Broadcom continue to have a strong hold
on high-speed Ethernet devices
Market research-analysis company Dell'Oro has reported
through its analysis that, communications semiconductor
vendor Broadcom lead the 10 Gb Ethernet controller market
with 70% market share.
Broadcom got into this kind of stronghold mainly due to
many other long-time semiconductor vendors in wired communication-area
moving away from wired to fast growing wireless communications.
The increased speeds of Ethernet enable this traditional
communication interface to connect two computers nearly
like a system bus, allowing cloud computing otherwise called
virtual computing to flourish, and fueling the growth of
Ethernet to next level.
"The results of our work with VMware helped propel
Broadcom to market share leadership in 10GbE controllers,"
said Vinod Lakhani, Senior Director & General Manager
of Broadcom's High-Speed Controller line of business. "Our
market share leadership, as validated by Dell'Oro research,
shows our ability to quickly respond to market demands for
feature-rich 10GbE controller technology, and our ability
to quickly establish a leadership position by enabling IT
departments worldwide with optimized networking communications
in virtualized environments."
The second ranked vendor in this segment is Intel with
15.7 percent market share as per Dell'Oro research.
The other active vendors in this market include, Marvell,
Aquantia, and Vitesse.
