Murata takeover Panasonic's multi-layer ceramic capacitor business

Murata has agreed to takeover the multi-layer ceramic capacitor component (MLCC) business from Panasonic. Companies have quoted; fierce competition is the reason for this business transfer. Murata is an exclusive passive electronics component maker, whereas Panasonic nearly makes every type of electronic component from resistors to semiconductors to LCD display panels.
It looks like Japanese electronic component companies are learning to focus on selected businesses rather than keeping hands in every business.

Murata will acquire Panasonic MLCC technologies, patents, some facilities and customers. The business transfer will be completed by Jan 2010.
