 Ganesh Moorthy is promoted as COO of Microchip

Microcontroller maker Microchip has promoted Ganesh Moorthy to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Microchip.

Ganesh Moorthy is working in semiconductor business since 1981 with his first job at Intel. He is with Microchip from year 2001 onwards. He grew from the position of VP of the Advanced Microcontroller & Automotive Division to executive VP of the Company in 2006.
He received a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Mumbai in 1979, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington in 1981 and an MBA in Marketing from National University in 1987.

"Ganesh has taken on increasing levels of responsibility in recent years, and he will play an increasingly larger role in helping me run the entire company, including strategic planning, annual operating plans, operations management and investor relations activities," said Steve Sanghi, Microchip's president and CEO. "I'm extremely pleased to see Ganesh take this next step as COO, and am confident that he will continue to drive excellence at Microchip."

Steve Sanghi and Ganesh both hail from India and are leading number one 8-bit microcontroller company in the world.
