Synopsys 2nd quarter fiscal 09 results are near flat

Synopsys has reported revenue of $336.8 million for the 2nd quarter of fiscal 09, a decrease of $3 million compared first quarter of fiscal 09 revenues of $339.8 million, but is up by 3.8% compared to $324.6 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2008.

Though the revenue growth figures are near flat, Synopsys is performing better than industry average in the present yet-to-recover recession hit economy. Synopsys has recently launched few new versions of its new EDA tools to speed up the chip design process.

Synopsys has set a revenue target in the range of $342 million - $350 million for its third quarter of fiscal year 2009. This can be a fairly easy target provided the semiconductor industry has hit lowest point in March 09 in the present downturn. There are few indications that semiconductor industry is moving into very slow but growing path from Apr-09.
