Texas Instruments to make 4 MB FRAMs for ATMEL

Texas Instruments (TI) is agreed to manufacture 4 MB Ferro-electric Random Access Memory (FRAM) for RAMTRON International Corp., the only FRAM vendor in the world. FRAM is a non-volatile memory just like flash memory but offers few advantages over Flash. TI will be making these devices using 130-nm process technology.

While the FRAM technology picking up, there are other two non-volatile memory technologies called Magnetic Random Access Memory (MRAM), Phase Random Access Memory (PRAM) trying to get commercialized. Hope there won't be any bitter competition among these technologies.
