White paper on technical challenges in Mobile WiMAX

WiMAX semiconductor expert Fujitsu Microelectronics has published a white paper describing the technical challenges faced by mobile product developers and semiconductor vendors in using Mobile WiMAX solutions to meet growing broadband demand. Entitled "Mobile WiMAX Solutions, Moving the Momentum Forward," the paper provides strategies that are most likely to succeed in meeting marketplace requirements.

The technology now exists to add WiMAX connectivity to a broad variety of mobile products, which can then furnish broadband speeds greater than 1 Mbps for services such as Internet access, e-mail, VoIP and video streaming - while maintaining the form factor and battery life of 3G devices.

"Fujitsu is dedicated to working closely with mobile product vendors to satisfy consumers' rapidly-growing appetite for broadband access," said Dean Chang, senior product marketing manager, Fujitsu Microelectronics America. "Fujitsu is providing high-performance SoCs capable of meeting the aggressive price points required for mobile handsets and our second-generation WiMAX module features the lowest power consumption available now. This paper defines the challenges of implementation and offers strategies for meeting the technical requirements of mobile WiMAX devices."
