 Broadcom EDGE Platform gets a customer

Samsung Electronics selects Broadcom's single chip EDGE platform for its future EDGE mobile phones. Single-chip EDGE processor based EDGE platform features touch-based graphical user interfaces with tactile feedback, motion sensors, advanced multimedia and extended Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity.

According to iSuppli market research, the EDGE segment of the mobile phone market is projected to grow from 308 million units in 2008 to over 483 million units in 2012, making EDGE the largest volume sector.
