OpenKODE 1.0 specs from Khronos to develop media apps on mobiles

Khronos group, a consortium formed by mobile industry has released OpenKODE 1.0 specs to develop rich media and graphic applications for mobile phones and similar hand-helds. This opens standards will be adopted by semiconductor vendors, system manufacturers and platform developers. OpenKODE is free to use standards designed to work across different platforms. It combines a set of native Application Peripheral Interfaces (APIs) to accelerate rich media and graphic applications. This new standard is developed to ease porting of games and any such multi dimensional media content across different mobile operating systems. Khoronos has timed the release of these standards exactly at the peak of media application growth in mobile phones.

Now only provisional specs are released. The final version will be out some time in 2007 itself.

The OpenKODE 1.0 provisional specification can be downloaded at http://www.khronos.org/openkode
