Moser Baer to set up one of India's largest rooftop solar PV installations in Surat

Moser Baer Photovoltaic (MBPV) has bagged a rooftop solar power installation contract from Roads and Buildings Department of Gujarat to set up one of India's largest roof-top solar photovoltaic installations in Surat, Gujarat. This Solar PV system of approximately 135 KW (peak) capacity will bear a load a 40kW for 10 hours everyday by storing the charge in a battery bank of 6,000 AH (Ampere Hours). This is enough of power to light up a typical Indian village.

The project has already started and the complete system will be commissioned by April 2009. Moser Baer PV will manage the operations and maintenance of this installation for seven years.

Commenting on the development, Rajiv Arya, the Chief Executive Officer of MBPV, said: "This contract underlines our unmatched capability to design and build reliable and customized solar systems in a cost-effective manner. This project is in line with the Gujarat government's focus on clean and renewable energy in the state."

Moser Baer is investing hugely into solar energy harvesting area. The results of its efforts have started bearing fruits.
