National Semiconductor has acquired Xignal Technologies

Xignal Technologies, an Analog to Digital Converter specialized company will be acquired by National Semiconductor. Xignal develops continuous-time delta sigma analog-to-digital converters. The continuous delta sigma converters are highly preferred over pipeline architecture. They convert signals at megahertz speed at high resolutions. Continuous time architecture also helps to integrate on board clocks, low noise amplifiers and external filters.

The market is very much looking for high resolution, low power, multi-featured analog front-end chip at low cost, where a signal from sensor can be directly plugged in. This merger may help National to bring these products faster to the market.
