Feed reference design along with chips to Chinese OEMs for long-term gain

LCD TV might be the next immediate consumer appliance from China, which will be manufactured like a commodity for the world market, just like how the DVD players have hit the market. If LCD TVs succeed like DVD players, than the semiconductor IC and other components manufacturers, whose parts get integrated into these TVs will reap high profits.

The OEMs TV manufacturers in China are looking for ready reference designs to quickly develop reliable LCD Televisions. One such early move to provide ready reference design solutions is by Fairchild Semiconductor. Its Global Power ResourceSM Centers (GPRC) in China has developed LCD TV integrated power solution exclusively for Chinese LCD TV manufacturers.
This design integrates power factor correction, an AC-DC power supply and a DC-AC backlight inverter directly from the PFC output. It eliminates one stage of power conversion.
