Micrel and Cyan partner to jointly develop industrial RF modules

Micrel and Cyan are partnering in developing subsystem level module products targeted at automated meter reading infrastructure, public lighting management, ethernet gateways and RF sensor network markets. Micrel is expected to provide the RF chips with Cyan supplying the microcontrollers and system software.

Kenn Lamb, CEO at Cyan comments, "This partnership provides our customers with production ready modules complete with drivers, protocol stacks, RF mesh networking, and even embedded web servers. RadioWire technology enables a family of low power RF enabled Ethernet/USB gateways and nodes for a range of industrial applications. The modules are user customizable and supplied with a free graphical development tool providing an easy to use and cost effective solution to industrial control and communications."

"Micrel and Cyan plan to collaborate on developing subsystem level module solutions for growing and emerging global markets," noted Scott Ward, vice president analog business unit, Micrel. "Cyan specializes in the development of applications using their eCOG1X and eCOG16E01 microcontroller chips and, when combined with Micrel's RF chip solutions, the partnership should produce dynamic solutions for customers worldwide."
