Motorola deploys first WiMAX 802.16e trial network in Vietnam

Motorola deployed its first WiMAX trial network for Vietnam Datacommunications Company (VDC), a member company of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), the largest Internet service provider (ISP) in Vietnam. The network allows VDC to test next-generation wireless broadband services in major cities of Vietnam.
Many in industry have opined negatively on the growth and future of WiMAX. The stead increase in WiMAX installation can only confirm the potential of WiMAX as future broadband wireless technology. Though Motorola got direct benefit from Vietnam's installation, this news brings cheers to other WiMAX vendors such as Intel and Fujitsu to strengthen their effort in WiMAX technologies.
Motorola now has 24 contracts for commercial WiMAX networks in 19 countries around the world. For more information about Motorola WiMAX solutions, please visit: http://www.motorola.com/wimax.
