AMD announced availability of Athlon dual core processors in 65nm process.

AMD has started churning out production volumes of Athlon 64x2 dual core processors at 65nm line widths on 300mm wafer. One of AMD's facility called Fab 36 will be fully converted to 65nm by mid 2007. AMD stresses on energy efficiency of their products.

Windows Vista is expected to drive the market for these dual-cores at 65nms.

IBM is the AMD's partner in developing 65nm technology and the transistors in reducing power consumption.

Athlon 64 dual core 5000+ : $301 each in 1K quantities
Athlon 64 dual core 4800+ : $271 each in 1K quantities
Athlon 64 dual core 4400+ : $214 each in 1K quantities
Athlon 64 dual core 4000+ : $169 each in 1K quantities
