AMD announced availability of Athlon dual core processors
in 65nm process.
AMD has started churning out production
volumes of Athlon 64x2 dual core processors at 65nm line widths
on 300mm wafer. One of AMD's facility called Fab 36 will be
fully converted to 65nm by mid 2007. AMD stresses on energy
efficiency of their products.
Windows Vista is expected to drive the
market for these dual-cores at 65nms.
IBM is the AMD's partner in developing
65nm technology and the transistors in reducing power
consumption.
