ZTE Selects Cavium's OCTEON
processors for 3G routers
ZTE Corporation has selected the OCTEON Plus CN5010 MIPS64
processor for their latest Wireless WCDMA broadband router.
"During our evaluation, we were highly impressed with
the level of performance and integration available in the
Cavium OCTEON CN5010 processor which was much superior to
alternatives," said ZTE WCDMA General Manager Li Ying
Feng.
Cavium press release states, "OCTEON processors are
highly successful in a range of market segments including
fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) routers, 802.11n enterprise access
points and SOHO/SME secure routers".
The OCTEON Plus CN50XX family provides the choice of one
or two custom 64-bit MIPS core devices, operating at 300-700
MHz frequencies with multiple software and pin compatible
processor options. The other features of OCTEON CN50XX family
are, they provide an integrated 128KB L2 cache, QoS, TCP,
packet and security co-processing in hardware with interfaces
such as TDM/PCM, multiple Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, PCI,
USB 2.0.
