  QNX shares its market leading figures in Automobile RTOS market

QNX Software Systems today announced that its software technology has been licensed for more than 7.4 million vehicles worldwide, which includes 200 vehicle models. From2004 to 2008, the number of automobiles using QNX software technology achieved a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 112 percent.

The leading auto brands such as BMW, Chrysler, Daimler, Fiat, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Saab, Ssangyong, Toyota, and Volkswagen have used QNX-based infotainment and telematics systems in their cars. The brand of cars with QNX are, Acura, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Honda, Hummer, Infiniti, Jeep, Lancia, Mini, Mercedes, Opel, Pontiac, and Saturn.

One of the reasons QNX shared for its success is, the large ecosystem of more than 100 technology partners built overtime in providing automakers with a "one-stop shop" for complementary hardware and software technologies. The solutions include navigation, voice recognition, Bluetooth, Java, web middleware, graphics, databases, tools, and silicon.

QNX will be present at the Convergence 2008 vehicle electronics conference and will demonstrate its latest middleware and operating system technologies for digital instrument clusters, infotainment systems, rear-seat entertainment systems, handsfree communication devices, and connectivity modules.
