The enhanced PCI express proposal gets the name “Geneseo”.

Intel, IBM and other silicon valley companies have proposed to develop a new enhanced PCI Express standard called Geneseo, to improve the connection between processor and application accelerators. This new standard will address the performance requirements of display visualization in applications such as weather modeling, Math and Physics modeling, and XML based data intensive finance applications, content processing, encrypting and decrypting of telecom infrastructure data.

The supporters for this proposal include biggies such as CISCO, HP, Sun Microsystems, Xilinx, and LSI Logic.
