CoEs in karnataka for learning skills in Industry 4.0, solar and automation

To address the work force needs of fast emerging smart factory, Siemens Industry Software has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Government Tool Room and Training Center (Government of Karnataka) and DesignTech Systems Limited to establish four Centers of Excellence across Karnataka. Siemens' product lifecycle management (PLM) software offerings form crucial components of the integrated technology solutions provided by Siemens in India in the space of automation and digitalization. The centres will be set up at the sub-centres of the Government Tool Room and Training Centre in Dandeli, Mysuru, Bengaluru and Kalaburgi. Intially Siemens will run the centers through DesignTech Systems for 2 years, and later Government Tool Room and Training to manage the centers.

CoE's core focus is on Industry 4.0, Automation, Mechatronics and Internet of Things (IOT) for application areas such as infrastructure Automotive, Industrial machinery, Industrial automation, Renewable Energy and Aerospace and Defense.

Suman Bose, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Industry Software India Pvt. Ltd, present on the day of agreement signing, said, "We aim to build sustainable communities by leveraging Siemens' competencies and solutions. The collaboration aims to train students on relevant industry processes and help create industry-ready trained personnel. This industry-readiness and relevance of skills is expected to foster further industrial development in the state of Karnataka."

COEs to have Siemens industry software packages such as NX PLM software for managing product life cycle, Teamcenter software for digital lifecycle management and the Tecnomatix o for digital manufacturing. CoEs also to have industrial automation equipment from Siemens, computer numerical controllers (CNC), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and state of the art manufacturing machinery including CNC milling and turning machines, industrial application robotics cells, Renewable (Solar/Wind) Energy Training System, Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Quality Assurance Tools and Gages, and rapid prototyping machines. Each of the COEs will have ten fully equipped laboratories staffed with instructors trained and certified by Siemens.
In another training related announcement, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Schneider Electric India have setup a CoE in Bengaluru with a focus on solar power and automation. 7 Advanced Renewable Energy Training Centres in the cities of Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore, Delhi, Cuttack, Vishakhapatnam and Jaipur are also set up by these organisations.

The CoE to focus on training of trainers, Research and development and specialised corporate programmes.

With an investment of nearly 10 crores Schneider Electric India Foundation would support the infrastructure and equipment cost for the initiatives aiming to impact the livelihood of nearly 20,000 candidates every year.

We have already trained 72,000 underprivileged youth as electricians through 260 training centres across the country and through this association we aim to further accelerate the initiative by upgrading the training infrastructure at 100 centres in India and providing market backed pedagogy. We are delighted to be a partner of Skill India mission of Government of India and aim to contribute to the development of the nation."
The month-long training program is designed fot youth who have undergone basic electrician training, obtained a diploma from ITI or have dropped out of college enabling candidates to manage applications from basic to the most complex of processes.
