New version of ZeBu not include features related to patent infringement

Mentor Graphics announced that an Oregon Federal District Court has issued an injunction in favor of Mentor Graphics. The injunction prohibits Synopsys, Inc. from making, using, selling, offering to sell, licensing or leasing in the United States any emulators or software that incorporate Mentor Graphics’ patented emulation technology covered by U.S. Patent No. 6,240,376.

However no disappointment for Synopsys customers. Synopsys said it will continue to sell, ship and support its high-performance ZeBu Server emulation systems worldwide, and that it has released a new version of ZeBu Server software that does not include the two features previously found to infringe on a Mentor Graphics Corporation patent. The release also includes technology for up to 3X faster compile performance and Unified Debug with the market-leading Verdi solution, claims Synopsys.

"We have made substantial investments in ZeBu technology and software over the last two years and currently deliver the industry's fastest and most scalable emulation platform," said Manoj Gandhi, general manager and senior vice president of the Verification Group at Synopsys. "As we continue to drive innovation with our Verification Continuum, we are expanding our collaborations with leading semiconductor and system companies and expect to significantly grow our emulation market segment share over the next few years."
