FPGA based Camera demo to do video analytics

Date: 14/02/2015
Lattice Semiconductor demonstrated several new FPGA-based camera designs with HD for Industrial and Automotive markets at the SPIE Photonics West show.

Using LatticeECP3 FPGA HDR-60 Camera Development Kit and Helion's IONOS Image Signal Processing IP as a base platform and demonstrate High Dynamic Range (HDR) using Fairchild Imaging’s HWK1910A rolling-shutter sensor, and High-Definition and Megapixel Image Processing solutions using Sony IMX104 and IMX136 image sensors.

The LatticeECP3 FPGA can be interfaced directly to number of HD sensors, process the image for intelligent analytics and output the video through its high-speed I/O or through a combination of its integrated 16 SERDES channels for video processing application such as machine vision, factory automation and video surveillance.

Other demonstrations include HDR-60 based auto focus and liquid lens solutions from Varioptics, highlighting how the fast focusing, very low power and high shock resistance of Varioptic’s liquid lens technology, combined with low power, low density FPGA devices, expands the range of applications available to industrial automation customers.
