An FPGA in every mobile device, Lattice way of biz

FPGA expert Lattice Semiconductor has launched a new FPGA device called "iCE40 Ultra" targeting mobile device market. iCE40 Ultra features infrared remote, barcode, touch, user identification, and pedometer functions.

iCE40 Ultra FPGAs boasts improvement in chip size ( smaller) and lesser power consumption supporting space constrained battery operated mobile sys.

Lattice said it had already shipped hundreds of millions of iCE40, a earlier version of this family.

The iCE40 Ultra family integrates LED drivers, multipliers and accumulators, serial interfaces and such hard silicon.

iCE40 in Ultra device in a Wafer Level Chip Scale (WLCS) package measures 1.7mm x 2.1 mm x 0.45 mm.
