The semiconductor and electronic component distributor Avnet Electronics Marketing and the leading kit/learning board maker Digilent, Inc. have Introduced the ZedBoard, a Community-Based Development Kit for the recently released Zynq-7000 chips from Xilinx. The 28nm Zynq device offers both ready to use ARM Cortex A9 based processor with peripherals and FPGA for custom hardware. The combined embedded system elements and programmable logic element is not of low-end nature allowing electronics engineers to develop fairly complex systems using Zynq.
ZedBoard is suggested for entry level designers and students who are interested in exploring and prototyping their application ideas for the new Zynq-7000 EPP architecture. The ZedBoard kit includes the ZedBoard, power supply, USB cable, and pre-configured SD card containing a bootable Linux reference design. ZedBoard.org will host additional user created reference designs and projects, enabling the community of Zynq-7000 EPP designers to collaborate and share design ideas.
