Key-input LCD control & driver IC

Holtek's HT16C22 follower chip, the new HT16K23 consumes lesser power, offer increased noise immunity and ESD protection.

The HT16K23 is supplied in a 28-pin SOP package with two pixel formats of 20 Segments x 4 Commons + 20 Input Keys or 16 Segment x 8 Commons + 16 Input keys. Additional features include internal display memory, an integrated RC oscillator and a wide operating voltage of 2.4V~5.5V. The HT16K23 provides key interrupt signals to the MCU thus reducing the requirement for the MCU to repeatedly monitor the key status. The device requires only two signal lines to communicate with the MCU chip. As the device can detect key inputs, there are significant reductions in MCU I/O pin requirements, as well as simplified main board routing and reduced overall product costs.

The HT16K23 is suitable for use in LCD display control and driving applications such as digital clocks, home appliances, music systems, industrial metering etc.
