High voltage gate driver ICs from Fairchild
Semiconductor with improved noise immunity
Fairchild Semiconductor has released a set of high voltage
gate drive ICs, which includes:
--FAN7392, a 2-input, 2-output / high and low side gate
driver with shutdown function
--FAN7393, a 1-input, 2-output / half bridge with shutdown
and controllable dead time
--FAN73932, a 1-input, 2-output / half bridge with shutdown
and fixed dead time control
--FAN73933, a 2-input, 2-output / half bridge with controllable
dead time.
Fairchild claims these driver ICs which can work without
buffer transistor provide improved noise immunity over competitive
solutions, and are part of the FAN739x series which features
an innovative common-mode dv/dt noise canceling circuit
that enables stable operation of the high voltage gate driver
under high dv/dt noise circumstances.
The devices also feature an advanced level shift circuit
that offers high-side gate driver operation with negative
VS swings of up to -9.8V (at VBS = 15V), where Vs is the
high voltage floating supply return and VBS is the high
side floating supply voltage.
The series also features floating channels for bootstrap
operation to +600V, built-in under-voltage lockout for VBS,
and matched propagation delay for both channels.
Other devices in the series include the FAN7390 (2-input,
2-output / high & low side gate driver), and the FAN73901
(2-input, 2-output/ high & low side gate driver). Available
in 8-pin DIP, 8-pin SOP, 14-pin SOIC and 16-pin SOIC packages,
devices in the series are pin-compatible with existing solutions.
Some of the suggested applications for these driver chips
include motor drive inverters, distributed power supplies
and telecom system power supplies.
Operating temperature range: -40° to 125°C.
Price (each, 1K pieces.):
FAN7392 = $1.52
FAN7393 = $1.52
