New LED lighting architecture from National
semiconductor
National Semiconductor has added LED lighting designer
tool called 'WEBENCH LED Architect' to its online power
supply design tool set called WEBENCH Designer tools. WEBENCH
helps design engineers to create a reliable power supply
circuit over the internet in short duration by using National's
ICs and devices.
The newly added WEBENCH LED Architect can be used to create
multiple sets of LED lighting designs and compare them across
for efficacy, size, and cost up to 100,000 lumens in light
output.
National says to start a design, the designer enters desired
light output (lumens) and adjusts the design with the unique
WEBENCH Optimizer Dial, evaluating size, conversion efficiency
and cost trade-offs. The designer can order components for
prototyping, share the complete system with others, or easily
print a complete project report including schematics, bill
of materials (BOM) and performance characteristics.
National is talking about it's WEBENCH LED Architect at
these upcoming events:
Strategies in Light Europe, Frankfurt, Germany - Sept.
27-29, 2010
EDN Designing with LEDs, Chicago, IL - Sept. 29, 2010
China Solid-State Lighting Conference, Shanghai, China -
Oct. 14-16, 2010
"We are enabling creative designers to compare a hundred
different topologies for a lighting system in a few minutes,"
said Phil Gibson, vice president of Technical Sales Tools
at National Semiconductor. "WEBENCH LED Architect frees
their imagination, so they can deliver brilliant lighting
designs at the lowest possible cost."
