New SDK from AuthenTec for creating fingerprint sensor applications

AuthenTec is offering a software development kit (SDK) for developers to create applications around AuthenTec smart sensors and TrueSuite identity management software. AuthenTec’s new TrueAPI interfaces with the Company’s TruePrint smart sensors and TrueSuite software enables finger print based security for websites, favorite applications and/or locking files and folders with the single swipe of a finger. AuthenTec’s TrueAPI is built for Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system and the new Windows Biometric Framework. AuthenTec claims the installed base of notebooks with AuthenTec’s sensors exceeds 40 million units worldwide.

“Our new TrueAPI SDK provides application developers an opportunity to integrate biometric technology into their solutions and add a whole new dimension of convenience and security. With access to a growing community of PC users by way of our installed base of more than 40 million AuthenTec-enabled PCs, we offer a real product differentiation opportunity for our third party partners,” said AuthenTec Business Development Director Scott Long. “In addition, their integrated application can be showcased within our TrueSuite identity management software, currently being shipped in notebooks from leading PC OEMs, and soon to be available for download via Windows Update and the AuthenTec website. We look forward to expanding the number of applications that integrate with our TrueSuite software and building on our strong base of AuthenTec Alliance members by continuing to offer compelling solutions that will drive an enhanced user experience for our customers.”
