15 Inch, 5-wire resistive touch
panels and protector sheets for POS terminals and kiosks
Fujitsu has added 5-wire resistive touch sensor panels
to its already available 4-wire and 7 -wire resistive touch
sensor panels. These panels increase the active touch input
area for 15 Inch size display screens. Fujitsu is targeting
the OEMs making information kiosks used in hotels and public
places as well as Point of Sale (POS) terminals systems
for this machine to human interface component.
By using a patent pending proprietary technology, the frame
borders are narrowed in large touch panels (e.g.: 9mm for
15-inch size) with an edge-area linearity performance of
+/- 2 percent. This provides more space to be used for touch
input functionality.
The minimum operating life of these RoHS compliant sensors
is specified at 35 million touches. The transmissivity offered
is 80 to 85 precent. Can only withstand ambient temperature
of -20C to +60C degrees, and a relative humidity of 20-
90 percent. Touch panel is shippend with a USB controller
and the required cables and device driver software.

Fujitsu has also announced new self-wetting adhesive protector
sheets that reduce surface damage to touch screens and flat
panel displays in use or during shipping.
The RoHS-compliant protector sheets feature a 3H surface
hardness that is scratch and chemical resistant. The sheets
are suitable for high-use, rugged and harsh applications,
such as POS terminals, self-service kiosks, manufacturing
and warehouse equipment, and mobile field sales and service
devices. They also offer protection for product shipping
and testing.
The patented, self-wetting adhesive virtually self applies
itself by spontaneously wetting out on smooth surfaces with
no or very low finger pressure to adhere to a display or
touch screen. The end user can remove the sheet by hand,
even after an extended time, without leaving any residue
or creating static electricity. Application of a new sheet
can then be accomplished, also without generating static
electricity, thus avoiding the attraction of undesirable
dust particles.
