Analog Devices' new isolator IC is a replacement for opto-coupler in medical electronics

Analog Devices has launched a new family of four-channel isolator ICs with medical-grade specifications for data and power isolation in patient monitoring and other medical electronics equipment. Each IC packs integrated 5/3.3V operated dc/dc converter with 500 mW of power rating and the isolator. Analog Device claims, these new iCoupler quad-channel isolators are a better choice over optocouplers/opto-isolators.

The ADuM640x quad-channel isolator family consists of ADuM6400, ADuM6401, ADuM6402, ADuM6403, and ADuM6404 digital isolation products. These IC feature isolation voltage of 5-kV rms and four independent isolation channels in various channel configurations and data rates.
