 QSFP 40 Gb/s quad data rate, active optical cable assemblies

Tyco Electronics launched its new 40 Gb/s Quad Data Rate (QDR) speed PARALIGHT cable assemblies in a Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable (QSFP) connector format. This new cable assembly can run up to 100 meters, although longer lengths may be possible and are being evaluated.

The key features include:

1. 40 Gb/s QDR speed
2. Smaller & lighter optical cable
3. Can run up to 100 meters
4. Longer lengths possible
5. Applications include "intra- and inter-cabinet" links & some QDR speed applications
